I know all my posts typically start out by making excuses as to why we have not updated the blog as much as we would have liked.... so I dont want to break the trend here! -

We experienced a much busier than normal winter with a ton of January weddings, and a huge bridal show which lead to multiple meetings every day of the week! - Plus after a slight lul in the news cycle, things have picked up again. Then came the snow, and after shoveling blizzard after blizzard I just didnt have the energy to blog! And would you believe it, now here we are in March!!

I'm writting this the day before our spring wedding season starts, and it is on track to be our busiest year ever! Thank you to all the previous clients who continue to send business our way by telling their friends and family about us!! - We could not have done it with out you!

With that said, we should have plenty of ammo for more frequent blog postings -- if we can just get around to logging in and writting them that is! :)

But for now, here is some of the news I managed to cover over the last month or 2 in between my meetings and the shoveling! :)

January 20th, 2010 - Washington, District of Columbia, USA - TARAQ SALAHI and MICHAELE SALAHI, who managed to attend portions of a White House State Dinner without proper clearance testify before the House Homeland Security Committee. The Salahi's were subpoenaed to testify but repeatedly refused to answer any questions asked by the committee.

Mary & Josh @ Chincoteague Virginia

Mary and Josh are good friends of ours who's wedding I was planning on shooting in September this year. As many of you already know - I had open heart surgery August 28th, which for the most part put me out of commission for my September and October weddings. So I was rather upset when one of the weddings I would not be able to shoot was the wedding of my wife's best friend since elementary school!

Be that as it may, having gone thru open heart surgery once prior in my life, I knew what was involved with recovery, and I did not think that I would even be able to attend Mary's wedding just three weeks after surgery. I figured I would take things easy and see how it goes, and if I was feeling up to it I hoped to attend the wedding as a guest - but certainly wouldn’t be shooting anything!

Well, recovery went better than expected and I was tired of sitting around resting and needed to try to push my boundaries! I was able to attend the wedding -- but I'm not one to attend a wedding and not be taking photos! So with the help of my wife holding gear and making sure I didn’t over-extend myself - I was able to capture these photos for Mary & Josh at their windy beach wedding in Chincoteague!

Of course, I would have loved to have done much more for these two - but I think I had reached the bounds of what my body could handle at that point in my recovery, and needless to say - I slept very well that evening! :)

Mary always wanted a beach wedding and invited just a small group of friends and family down to Chincoteague to be a part of their ceremony. The weather did not cooperate well as there was a heavy, steady wind on the beach all day long --- but at least it didn’t rain! :)

Chincoteague is such a quaint little town and I am personally a big fan of beach weddings, as I think they lean themselves to gorgeous photos! -- While I wish I could have been feeling 100% and not have been limited by certain positions I could not physically get into yet and all because of my recovery -- I'm pretty happy that I was able to shoot anything at all at this wedding!! :)

And another point about this beautiful wedding -- All the guests stayed at the Comfort Inn in Chincoteague...... which has BY FAR - the very BEST, most COMFORTABLE beds in the entire world!! --- It is a perfect combination of a wonderful mattress and luxurious mattress pad! And while they know what mattresses they use.... they do not sell, or know the mattress pads that they use -- I would have bought 10 of them on the spot!

Renee & David was one of the last weddings I shot before I headed in for open heart surgery at the end of August. For a summer that for the most part was fairly cool compared to our recent summers in the DC/Baltimore metro areas, this day however, was a scorcher!!

Silver Swan Bayside had a friendly staff and a nice location just over the bay bridge on the water, however the major down-side to this facility from a photographers point of view was the lack of shade... anywhere! With that said however, once the sun begins to set and the heat of the day subsides, it does provide for a beautiful backdrop, and wonderful atmosphere!

Editorial Month In Review

The only things that were talked about these last 2 months were health-care and the White House party crashers. Unfortunately, the health-care issue does not really open itself to many great still photographs -- so for the most part I have not covered much of it. -- Possibly a mistake on my end, but the same talking head-shots of pelosi and reid just don't inspire me too much -- not to mention much of the photo ops surrounding health-care seem to have been day-of planning and not on any schedules I see the night before.

That leaves us with the White House party crashers .... Well, I was at the White House for the official state visit by the Indian PM, but had other plans and didn't see too many big notable names on the guest list anyway so opted not to cover the guest arrivals.

Big mistake on my part for how much press this story has been getting! -- but an entire night of searching google trying to find out who the people I took pictures of were and why they were important didn't appeal to me after spending all day at the White House to begin with! --- but in retrospect, it would have been the most profitable part of the day for me! grrrr....

So then the crashers were invited to testify on Capitol Hill. I wake up that day, start heading down to cover it, and as I get about half-way thru my sometimes 2 hour commute -- I hear on the radio that they are not going to show. -- turn around and come home!

The same thing happened again later for another Capitol Hill hearing, except this one had been postponed -- I must start checking the schedule in the AM before I leave!! Anyway, the crashers are supposed to be subpoenaed to Capitol Hill now, and there seems to be a big cover up over the White House Social Secretary's lack of work that day as she herself wanted to be a guest at the party more than wanting to take responsibility for her job.

-- No worries though, she's a long-time Obama family friend, so I'm certain her job will be safe .... as for the Secret Service members involved...... probably not so lucky!

Other than those two items -- nothing else seems to be going on in DC right now!

Snow Day with our Kids!

Since our kids are the 4 legged kind - my wife insists that I spend the day playing with these two crazy animals in the snow and taking pictures of them this weekend when we enjoyed a good bit of snow before Christmas!! :)

As you can tell from the pictures - these two have plenty of play in them! :)

Angela & James @ Hotel Morgan West Virginia

Looking over the blogs recently, I noticed we have not been keeping up with the wedding issues as we should be! I know this one is going back a bit - to July to be specific, but I really wanted to include a blog on Angela and James' wedding! Traveling to West Virginia for this one, there was a ton of WVU Mountaineers pride here, which made for one heck of a fun wedding!

The college town of Morgantown was taken over by Angela and James both WVU alum! The church was a unique one, with balconies on both the right and left sides of the church - giving me a bit more access than I am used to having, which was very nice! Although rain was threatening, it held off long enough to get all the outside shots we needed before heading to the gorgeous Hotel Morgan.

Of course, I do have to give a lot of credit to Angela here as she is not shy at all in front of the camera!! Her excitement about the photos, and the ability to pose, and change her expression around endlessly reminded me more of the days I spent shooting models in New York than shooting a wedding -- which only helped make the pictures wonderful! :) - Thank you Angela!

Throw a rowdy group into the Hotel Morgan along with a live band, and the reception was just superb!! And of course, ending the night with "Country Roads" was only fitting! :)

Shooting this wedding only reinforces my love for shooting at an entirely new place -- I simply love shooting some place that I have never shot before! :)

As for the Hotel Morgan -- only wonderful things to say about the service and staff there as well! :)

Fall Cleaning

It's time to clean things up for winter.... Most people are probably more familiar with "spring cleaning" but I take the opportunity whenever the wedding, product, and news cycle allow me to, because in no time things will be crazy again!

Part of the fall cleaning for us is consolidating our files and ensuring we are only backing up the files we need to back up. So we go thru the system, deleting all the photos that didn't make the cut, and making sure the photos that did make the cut are being backed up off-site.

Very similarly to cleaning up your house/room/boat, etc. - we come across some things that we spend a little time looking at and reminiscing. Today, I came across these photos... still on the wall in my office, but how often do I look up there.... I spend much more time looking at the computer screen!! :)

- Summer 2002I convinced my parents that I needed to take photography class my junior year of college and that they needed to buy me some gear! :) The day I got that nikon 35mm, a good friend of mine decided he had to get the same thing (although he was not taking a photography class) - he had a pattern of getting whatever the latest thing I decided to blow my money on, so that I couldn't "one-up" him.

That night, we went out on the town, anxious to use our new cameras, tripods, bags, and all the other accessories that made us "look" like photographers. Walking around the monuments that night, we heard Boyz II Men in the distance, apparently putting on a concert that I had no knowledge of -- this of course made me quite upset considering Boyz II Men were and still are my favorite band! So we continued walking around the DC Tidal basin shooting whatever we came across. We came home with a bunch of images, this was one of them. That friend of mine later passed away in a car accident and this picture serves as an excellent reminder of all the wonderful times we spent together.

- 9/11/2002 - That same friend of mine and I, basking in our newly found fame amongst our friends as photographers (because we spent a decent amount of money on equipment and accessories) -- decided that we would try to shoot some of the events one year after 9/11. Of course, living in Arlington, we had plenty of opportunities to shoot all kinds of remembrance ceremonies. Plus, I needed to shoot something for my first assignment in Photo 101!!

So off we went, parking fairly close and unpacking all of our gear (so we would really look like photographers) - Not really knowing what we would need, but taking it all "just in case". Until one "real" photographer walked past us as we were unloading from the car and said "your not going to need all that guys... just bring your cameras". So of course we acted like we were just taking inventory, and put the majority of stuff back in the car and walked to the event.

It was a 9/11 remembrance ceremony in Gateway Park in Roslyn (Arlington for those of you who don't know). We shot the entire event, which is where I got the main shot of the large flag blowing in the wind with the word "Remember" below it on a large backdrop. Later, we ran around the grounds of the Pentagon looking for shots. After a good deal of shooting, we then walked back to our cars - I happened to notice a funeral going on in Arlington Cemetery and snapped a few shots of it from where I was parked. That served as the inset shot on the flag.

I turned this in as my first assignment in Photo 101 and I was hooked from there.

If my memory serves me right, these were taken in Spring/Summer of 2003 (even though it says copyright 2004 on it) once my photography skills were improved a bit by Photo 101 (Thanks Kristen - my first photo teacher). From the same area where the remembrance photo was taken, Gateway park served as a great spot to watch an incoming thunderstorm before it started pouring! :)

I knew I had something good when I picked up the prints from Ritz (yeah, I'm not upset to see those film days done with!) and the lady who handed them to me told me there were some really great shots in there and asked me if I did this for a living!!

From the beginning I was hooked, and now that one moment where I said "oh sure, I'll take photo 101, it should be easy and it will make my parents buy me a nice camera for school." -- has now turned into a career that I absolutely love and wouldn't trade for anything in the world! :)

Where have we been?

It's a happy day - we are slowly catching up with the work that has piled up during the busy season, and I personally am about 80% recovered from surgery in August! Add to that, I've finally had a few minutes to update the blog, AND - we found out today that Be Photography was selected by The Knot.com to receive one of their 2010 Best of Weddings Awards for Photographers!

So our apologies go out to our blog followers who have not seen any updates in a while, but I have returned to shooting and I do plan catch up on the blog entries! :)

Here are a handful of news assignments shot recently - unfortunately, the news cycle has been stalled on health-care and not too much else seems to be going on right now! However, it is a welcome stall as the wedding season during September and October is huge and we have had a ton of weddings to cover and a lot of post-production work to catch up on, in addition to a busy time of year for product work as well!

Enjoy these shots and I hope to follow up with a blog shortly highlighting some of the recent weddings! :)

An Update on James

Hello to all my my faithful blog followers - I know you all exist based on the feedback I get in person - although you all rarely take advantage of the comment feature on here! :)

As many of you probably know (thru our facebook page) - I am scheduled to have open heart surgery on Friday and will be out of commission for some time afterwards.

Luckily, the awesome photographers we have working with us will be covering all of the scheduled events during the next month or so, and I hope that this extra time sitting at home recovering will give me inspiration needed to create some nice features for the website!

I've got a handful of ideas going around my head and I cant wait to start working on them as I am recovering!!

I apologize in advance for delayed e-mail response times and delayed message return times during this process - We will have someone handling our phones and e-mail's, and I plan on returning to being able to handle the office work in 2-3 weeks, and back to shooting in 4-6!

August - Product Work

August has proven to be pretty slow on the news front compared to the previous few months, so our blog updates have been fewer and farther between.

However, that does not mean we have not been shooting! A lot of product work has passed thru our lenses and I'm happy to share with you some of the work we have come up with this month.

On a side note, I'm noticing the borders are pushing a little too tight on the photos - my apologies, I'll try to get the auto-framer to fix it!:)

Meredith & Brad @ Georgetown and Washington Golf and Country Club

Often local clients will plan on having their wedding in a different state and will decide to bring me with them to shoot their wedding, but Meredith and Brad were the exact opposite!

Living in Manhattan and planning a wedding DC I'm sure was no easy task, but everything ran very smooth! Plus having Meredith as a bridesmaid in a spring wedding gave us another opportunity to meet up and they could sort of see me "in action" prior to their wedding!

Both graduates of Georgetown, the campus chapel served as the backdrop for the ceremony, and I could not have asked for a better campus to work with - I'd happily shoot there all day long! :)

Later in the day, Molly and the rest of the staff at Washington Golf and Country Club provided outstanding service and another gorgeous location for us to grab a couple more shots before the party got started! We walked around the grounds for a couple minutes prior to the official start of the reception and then it was on to the party for the rest of the night!

I continue to think that my wedding clients are the best around - Meredith and Brad were no exception here - both laid back in personality and allowing me to work at my best - by forgetting I am there and simply focusing on enjoying their wedding day! :)

Editorial Month-In-Review

Well the summer has proven to be very busy combining news, products and weddings all in one giant busy season, so I apologize for not being more up to date with the blog as I have been in prior months. So, again I am doing a month-in-review because we have been lagging with the updates!

However, this review could be summed up in about a week, as now that Supreme Court Justice Nominee Sonia Sotomayor's senate hearings are now over with, the DC News cycle has slowed dramatically! It actually makes me wish there was another election coming up!! -- Although I'm sure the next presidential election coverage will start soon enough!

This month also brought some bad personal news for me, as I am now scheduled to have open heart surgery a the end of August. Alas, our blog updates will probably be few and far between during the rest of this month and thru October as I will not fully be back on my feet until the first few weeks in October. However I've got a lot of plans for the business and for the website that I would like to begin to implement during my down time - hopefully I will be with it enough to get some of the things on my list scratched off.

So I really like the idea of experimenting with audio slideshows in the blog..... so as soon as I got my new recorder in, I decided to ask Mike if he was ok with me putting the mic on him during the day - of course Mike agreed and it gave me some audio to work with in putting together a slideshow for the day.

Please forgive me, as I'm still pretty new to the audio slideshows (having only done one before) - and I'm new to recording audio as well. - I'm pretty happy with the audio when one person is talking, but I am still learning how to refine audio when there is background noise (as in the first audio clip in this slideshow -- the mother of the bride is telling the bride "Mike is here, and he is happy as ever", but it can be hard to pick up due to the excessive background noise from other people talking) -- I promise, I'll try to get better! I considered taking it out, but I really like what Mike was saying at about the same time! :)

Having been married at Mountain Branch myself, I continue to enjoy shooting weddings there, as it provides a sophisticated, yet casual atmosphere for events held there. The same on location event coordinator that ran my wedding day back in 2005 is still there (which I've realized is extremely rare in the event planning world)!

I started out the day by lacing up my shoes and ripping the shoelace apart... so after a quick stop for some well-needed new shoes on the ay, I arrived at Renee's parents house. As I was arriving, an extremely heavy storm came roaring through - but after about 20 mintues of heavy rain, the worst was over, and we were off to Fallston for the ceremony. As you can see from the photos, this couple was surpised by Doves being released right after the ceremony - a nice touch that I rarely see!

On to the reception, we took advantage of being way ahead of schedule which gave us plenty of time to run down to the 12th hole and all over the golf course to take some nice shots of the newly married couple. The weather held for us the rest of the evening, making for a beautiful evening at Mountain Branch! Everything always runs so smooth at Mountain Branch -- I cant wait until my next event there!

Oh and note to self--- never stay on your feet for 7 hours in shoes that you just bought! - Yeah, I wont make that mistake again! :)

AT&T National Coverage

The last time I covered the AT&T National was before our official Blog existed. Back then, the AT&T National Coverage went out on my small e-mail distribution list and was very well received as it is one of those DC events that everyone is interested in, even if you don't follow the typical DC news cycle!

Wednesday began with a pro-am tournament which highlighted Tony Romo playing with Tiger Woods, Jessica Simpson singing the National Anthem, and Redskins players and others celebs playing a round with the pros as well. Note to self: It is called Pro-AM for a reason.... The AM part of that means the they play like me.... and as a photographer.... I don't want to be standing in front of someone that plays like me while they drive a golf ball straight at me
(although they are trying to drive it down the fairway)! Scary--- but luckily, I was not hit! :)

Having shot this course before, but only having shot Golf a handful of times, I was still a bit nervous about the strict PGA Tour rules-- the entire time I couldn't help but pray to God that my finger did not accidentally slip too early and snap in one of the players back-swings -- a very big no-no for us stills.

Luckily for me, my finger kept steady, and my phone did not accidentally go off like it did during Obama's prime time news conference (even though again, it was on vibrate only). However, all of the photographers didn't hold their hands as steady as I - on Sunday, at the 16th green, with Tiger putting for birdie to take the lead, one poor soul a few spots down from me accidentally slipped early during Tiger's swing. Tiger let out a big "SERIOUSLY?" (guess he has been watching Grey's) and the other stills began sending evil stares at the offender. I think I would have messed myself, as that putt could have easily been the difference between 500,000 and 1,000,000 for Tiger (all of which would be donated to his charity anyway). And of course, the photographers ripped into the offender the rest of the evening -- yikes!

However, the coverage was not all peachy for me... I am quite unhappy with one of the photos -- You will see in the blog Tiger teeing off from hole #10 both on Friday and again on Sunday -- you will notice that the shot on Friday is much cleaner -- I was able to be in a prime position which I staked out a good 3-4 holes before Tiger got to 10. -- Seeing as the crowds were much larger on Sunday, I thought I would do the same thing - except this time, about 1 minute before Tiger was ready to tee off on 10, I get thrown out of my spot by one of Congressional's security people telling me they have to keep the stairs clear......... NOT HAPPY --- for some reason, we have been allowed there all week, but that day, this guy wanted to clear me out. - SERIOUSLY (darn... those Grey's references again)! I ran around looking for the head security guy whom I had asked permission from to stake out my spot........ no where to be found and Tiger is stepping up..... Run to another, less desirable spot and snap what I can. - Shot was o.k. but nothing like what I wanted to get had I been in my position I staked out 30 minutes early! Plus the photographer behind Tiger did not help by raising his film 35mm camera mounted on a monopod about 10 feet in the air RIGHT after Tiger hits! -- I cant catch a break! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Editorial Month-in-Review!!

Yes, you read right -- this is going to be an editorial month-in-review not a week-in-review! As I'm sure most of you can guess, with weddings on our plate as well, the months of May and June can be extremely busy! I just have not found the time to update the blog until now!!

Quite a bit happened over the last month! At the begining of the month, Obama announced that GM will now be Government Motors, as the US is taking over. I still cant help but wonder why GM's CEO's dont just meet with Ford's CEO's to follow their business model and solve their problems.... but hey, I'm just a photographer!

Towards the end of the month, there was a huge accident on the DC Metro - for various reasons, including a replaced cell phone, with out all of my news-apps installed on it yet-- I didnt hear about it until it was way too late to get any spot-news shots from the crash, but I did head down the next day to try to cover clean-up operations. But, I was met with disgruntled, out-of-shape and smoking on the job, DC police officers who besides threatening to arrest me multiple times (even though I was not crossing their police line) - could not even help me by telling me how to get back to my car - since they would not let me go the way I came. Obviously, these guys were just a wealth of information -- I cant help but think if this accident had happened a mile or 2 north in Maryland, we would have had alot better police to deal with! I was on a time crunch to make another appointment, so I snapped really the only shot I could and headed over to Capitol Hill.

I've got to say, I am much more impressed by the German Chancellors motorcade full of 745 bmw's than I am of our chevy/cadillac motorcade..... but with the government owning GM, I guess they will never go any other way!!

Laura and Jason @ River Plantation

Since the day I shot Laura and Jason's wedding at The River Plantation, I have been looking forward to telling their story visually here.

As a photojournalist, I could not ask for better subject as Laura and Jason allowed me in on some of the most emotional moments of their lives. It was an honor to be able to cover this time in their lives.

I dont think any amount of words can really sum up this story, and I also did not think that a normal blog posting would best tell this story as well. So this time, I opted to put together a multimedia slideshow to best communicate the stories told this day.

This story is a reminder that not all of our days are exactly as we always envisioned. But as Laura's brother who was the officiant for the wedding said, "but we'll take all this in stride as Gods will and perfect plan, knowing he works everything for our good. We love and we trust him."

-- UPDATE --

- We have had a lot of inquiries into this wedding and the story behind it, so with the permission of the Bride I am happy to provide a little more detail.

Jason and Laura contacted me back in March, and I was happy to meet with Laura and her wedding planners to discuss plans for her wedding.

Engaged at the beginning of the year, Laura and Jason originally planned on having a June 2010 wedding. However, about two weeks after her engagement, Laura’s father was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. Doctors did not suspect that he had more than 6-12 months left with us. Laura clearly has a strong bond with her father, and describes herself as a typical “Daddy’s girl.” So it would mean the world to Laura to have her father give her away at her wedding. As a result, they decided to push the wedding up to May, 2009.

Combining the stress of her father’s sickness with a demanding grad school schedule, and planning a wedding, Laura had narrowed her wedding date down to a two week time period while she had a brief break from school, May 29th would be the date. However, as the date approached her father’s condition continued to deteriorate.

On May 26th, just three days before the wedding, her father was admitted to the hospital. During the week of the wedding, Laura and her family had come up with numerous back-up plans, which I’m told included scooters and golf carts if need be to assist her father in walking Laura down the aisle on her wedding day. However, her father was subject to emergency surgery on May 27th, and the chances of any of the back-up plans coming together were fading.

If her father could not make it to her wedding, then she was going to bring the wedding to him! So they planned to have a ceremony in the hospital on Friday prior to the ceremony at River Plantation. But by Thursday her father’s condition was worsening. Laura and Jason were married Thursday by her brother in a private ceremony in her father’s hospital room.

Friday, the wedding continued as planned and is where my coverage begins. Kim and Morgan (the wedding planners), setup a web-cast that was viewable in the hospital room where Laura’s mother stayed with her husband.

By the end of the evening, Laura’s father had passed.

During my career as a photographer, I’ve been on the sidelines of history, stood right next to some of the most influential people in the world, and been able to capture many amazing stories and moments. But those all pale in comparison to being given the honor to cover a story like this.

This is the reason why I became a photographer in the first place. I thank Laura’s family for allowing me to cover the wedding, and my deepest sympathies go out to them.

Editorial Week-In-Review

This one is going to be short given that the majority of this week was spent covering Preakness and the events leading up to it! I am going to do a special blog on Preakness coverage soon!

This week from my point of view, I saw President Obama meet with a number of medical industry CEO's - Edwards Life Sciences, Kaiser Permenente, AMA President, etc. Obama then spoke to the press with the industry leaders to brief us on the fact that he would like to focus on reducing costs in the medical industry -- this briefing took place in the State Dining Room because the East Room was being setup for some sort of HBO Poetry Jam...

Later, Obama met with the UNC Mens Basketball team outside the south portico and received an honorary UNC basketball jersey. Ive heard, he even hooped it up with some members of the team that day as well.

I found it amusing that some members of the team literally had to duck through the door to the White House on the south lawn -- TALL

Former President Bill Clinton also met with the CEO of Archer Daniels Midland, and CEO of Coca-Cola in a forum on business responsibility at the Brookings Institute. I'd love to tell you more about it, but we had less access to Clinton than we do at the White House that day! - A simple 5 minutes to shoot and the get out! -- well, not really get out, we could shoot from the back of the room after that, but the room was setup in such a way, there was really only one angle to get..... they didn't care when I told them I wanted a cut shot as well!

After this, it was onward to Preakness!

Monday, May 11th, 2009 - Washington, D.C.: President BARACK OBAMA speaks in the State Dining Room at the White House. After meeting on health care reform, the President spoke to the media about reforming the health care system to reduce costs. The President noted that "half of all personal bankruptcies stem from medical expenses." Further, Obama added that "too many Americans are skipping that check-up they know they should get, or going without that prescription that would make them feel better, or finding some other way to scrimp and save on their health care expenses."

Editorial Week-In-Review

This week, President Obama held a number of events at the White House to keep me busy - although nothing terribly interesting in my opinion! He did manage to spice things up a bit when he surprised the press by stopping in to the briefing room to make some remarks about Justice Souter's resignation. I for one enjoyed the surprise visit because many of my colleagues had left for lunch, and due to a bomb threat, were not able to get back into the briefing room in time to cover Obama. Hey - it's the one way I get some exclusive shots! :)

AIPAC had a conference all week as well, and John Kerry and Joe Biden spoke at the closing of the meetings. I always enjoy seeing what I can come up with at these conferences - at least it is something different from the same scenes at the White House!

To finish up, The National Conference To Prevent Teen and Unwanted Pregnancy held a meeting this week as well. Among the notable, Maury Povich and Kristen Alderson from One Life to Live. No overwhelming media here gave me the opportunity to sit down and talk with Alderson, who was very "down to earth" as us non-celebs usually describe "cool" celebrities when we have the opportunity to meet them -- I wish her the best of luck in her career!

Michelle & Vince @ Yorktowne Hotel

I met with Michelle and Vince about a year ago, and they were very excited about their wedding. The Yorktowne Hotel was not only the place they would get married, but it is also where they had their first date, and where Vince asked Michelle to marry him!

Having not been at the Yorktowne before, I was really impressed by it! - Reminding me of one of those places you would see on the history chanel on a show called something like "America's most haunted hotels" - this old building has a lot of character! Plus, their reception room is just gorgeous! And as a photogapher, this place gets extra points with me because of the balcony that overlooks the reception room -- anytime I can get one of my flash's up high on a balcony -- I love it! -- Plus to finish it off, the staff at Yorktowne was very friendly and helpful -- fantastic to work with! :) Here are some shots from Vince and Michelle's Day! :)

Protesters gathered outside of the embassy today to speak out against Sudan, claiming that the Darfur genocide has killed more than 400,000 civilians and shouting for the United States, China, the Arab League, The African Union and the European Union to bring peace to the region.
