Michelle & Vince @ Yorktowne Hotel

I met with Michelle and Vince about a year ago, and they were very excited about their wedding. The Yorktowne Hotel was not only the place they would get married, but it is also where they had their first date, and where Vince asked Michelle to marry him!
Having not been at the Yorktowne before, I was really impressed by it! - Reminding me of one of those places you would see on the history chanel on a show called something like "America's most haunted hotels" - this old building has a lot of character! Plus, their reception room is just gorgeous! And as a photogapher, this place gets extra points with me because of the balcony that overlooks the reception room -- anytime I can get one of my flash's up high on a balcony -- I love it! -- Plus to finish it off, the staff at Yorktowne was very friendly and helpful -- fantastic to work with! :) Here are some shots from Vince and Michelle's Day! :)

Editorial Week In Review

Well we decided not to bore everyone with the same type of shots that will no doubt come from tomorrows press conference at the White House on Obama's first 100 days, so I decided to put the blog out today instead of tomorrow! A relatively busy week, especially when you add in the wedding mix!! Assistant Attorneys General were sworn in at DOJ, World Bank/IMF meetings and Save Darfur protests outside of the Embassy of Sudan! -- Hope you enjoy! :)

Editorial Week-In-Review

Only one thing on everyone's mind this week -- TAXES!!

Here is the week in review from my lens...

Wednesday April 15th, 2009, Washington, D.C.: President BARACK OBAMA speaks before the press in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. As protestors held a Taxed Enough Already (TEA) Party in front of the White House, the President explained that he "know(s) that April 15 isn’t exactly everyone’s favorite date on the calendar. But it is an important opportunity for those of us in Washington to consider our responsibility to the people who sent us here and who pay the bills." (Credit Image: © James Berglie/ZUMA Press)

Wednesday April 15th, 2009, Washington, D.C.: A "Blog Free Zone" sign hangs on the mens bathroom door in the press room of the White House. The signs appeared throughout the workspace in the White House after bloggers apparently updated their blogs with hearsay and personal conversations that were overheard in the office.

Kim & Tony @ Hillsborough Vineyards

Well we didnt get the best weather for Kim & Tony's wedding, but that didnt stop Kim from running around in the rain for the sake of photographs!! :) Looking back, I think I can count on one hand the number of brides who would be willing to run around in the grass, mud, etc. just for the sake of getting pictures - But I am sure happy Kim was up for it!! :) Even with the bad weather, we were still able to come up with some nice stuff from Hillsborough!

Overall, it was a fun day and a great crew of people! Very surprisingly at this wedding however, it was not the bridesmaids out there leading the dancing, as it usually is -- This time, it was the group of very intoxicated groomsmen charging out right in front of everyone and getting the party going! :) - Needless to say, it was very entertaining!
I hope to see more of this crowd in august when I do one of the bride's maid's wedding!

Editorial Week-in-Review

A week full of news regarding the auto industry -- it is looking pretty grim for GM and Chrysler -- I cant help but wonder how Ford has been doing since we don't really hear much about them from the White House...? Anyway, this one starts out with last week's prime-time news conference. This time, I was ready for Helen Thomas to make some news with more ridiculous off-subject questions, but sadly, the President skipped over her name this time!
A few days later, Obama held a town-hall meeting at the White House. This was a bit interesting as it's not something any Presidents in memory (in mine, and the memories of the photogs standing around me) has ever done. Made us photographers all feel (and maybe the President too) that we were back on the campaign trail instead of in the White House. It was also a bit interesting at the end when the tone in the voice of the man asking the final question seemed a bit eerie... I couldn't help but wonder if secret service was going to jump in. As soon as the President finished the answer, the man jumped from his seat and ran over to the President standing about 3 inches away from him to ask more questions - and did so in a way that again made me think "where the heck is secret service?" -- Luckily the president kind of brushed him off and made his exit, but that guy just gave us all the "I wonder whats going to happen" feeling. --yikes!
Most recent in this bunch, Obama and his posse of 12 make an announcement in the Grand Foyer of the White House regarding the Auto-Industry. -- looks like scary times ahead for detroit!

March 24th, 2009, Washington, D.C.: Hearst newspaper columnist HELEN THOMAS sits in the East Room of the White House prior to President Barack Obama's second prime time news conference since taking office. Obama's conference focused mainly on our economy, about which President Obama said "We will recover from this recession. But it will take time, it will take patience, and it will take an understanding that when we all work together; when each of us looks beyond our own short-term interests to the wider set of obligations we have to each other - that’s when we succeed."
